Hey miltownkid, welcome here. Fitting that you should get the ball rolling. This place is empty because I, the Webster, have been busily getting the hardcover edition into galleys and ready to get into hand with a week or two....

See, what happens next is that the 555 people who have registered to download the book will be getting an email from the Webster. (Most of them, a few used disposable addresses....)

And this email will be telling them a little bit about the splendor of the launch, how visitors have come from 91 nations, half from the US and half from the rest of the world -- Africa -- Europe -- Asia -- Australia -- even the tiny island of Tuvalu! -- and guess what, the #2 country after the USA? Cote d'Ivoire!

And they might even hear about your great Remix video on YouTube -- for which I owe you a tag -- which you shall have....

And they will certainly be invited to pull up a chair in the Websters' Bar & Grill. And then the place will start to hop!

Which will make me busier than ever, so I am laying back for just a little while longer.

Meanwhile, it's great to see you here.

Will keep you posted!

PS, I don't really like the forums. I like discussion groups a LOT better. Maybe that's just me. But check it out and let me know what you think.... If you agree, I might just suppress the Forum feature so people don't end up in box canyons.

I am so proud of what I see! Thanks for keeping me in the loop. :-)
And I think the little typo above is actually fitting, since you are starting a buzz...

Well, I guess you'll need a reply apart from the Webster and Sprout.
I'll do that for you.
And so the ball begins to roll.

Hi,

Golly Gee!! First time I've been in something like an online discussion or chatroom in well over a decade. But I did chat on AOL, Cserve, and that IBM system out of Boca a few times in the late 80's. Still have my hand-labeled v1.0 of AOL when it was a long distance call from Towson, MD to sign on.

While Al Gore was "inventing the internet" which I hope y'all know is an outright lie I was beta testing IBM TSS (time sharing system) at Princeton. It used maybe a dozen or so interconnected dedicated IBM 360's at a time and we typed back and forth on telex terminals, the ones with cylindrical typeheads. With two to four users the system was what we thought fast. At eight or nine the system slowed to a crawl and died altogether at ten or eleven users. In other words it took more than one mainframe to handle a single user. As you can imagine the beta didn't last very long.

Webster suggested I tell you about Lanchester Theory which can explain why small is good, big bux are toxic, and asterisk (new term for me) sized groups can whip tail on the big boys. If someone will be so kind as to tell me how to enter a chat here, I'll do up a three pager on the theory, post it here? or wherever?, and present myself for a Q&A at y'all's convenience. Give me about three days warning.

I've known Webster since the early eighties and he tells me there are tables and chairs in here. Is there some virtual portal I've missed?

Grok ya.

Greetings all, I have bee busy trying to build web communities since 2002 and have learned quite a bit from The Webster. He was on our SHOW The 57th State today at 10Am for 1/2 hour....
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/stations/HeadingRight/freedomist/2008/...

OK, so it was a LONG half hour (he was probably happy to escape our clutches).

I am happy to be here and to contribute to the discussion. I am also building, at my listener's request, a "club" that will, from JUMP STREET be based entirely on the principles, ideas, and methods of The Websters' Guide, and YOUR inoput and ideas as "fellow websters", people who are seeking to TRANSFORM their world through the WEB.

G'day All,

I'm not sure this is the right place to ask but here goes. I understand that the Team Sarah people had problems with hackers making racist comments on their site. Does anyone know how they solved the problem? (If they did actually solve it.)
